近日，NHSDLC美式辩论联赛2020秋季第二场线上冲刺赛落下帷幕，经过两天（12月12日、12月13日）的唇枪舌战，来自我校辩论社的六名同学表现优秀，其中三名同学取得比赛佳绩。

NHSDLC美式辩论联赛

NHSDLC中国高中生美式辩论联赛是目前中国最大的外语类高中生辩论联赛，由清华大学、北京大学在校辩手联合美国哈佛大学、斯坦福大学、哥伦比亚大学的辩论学术团队共同创办。

NHSDLC竞赛采用美国高中生辩论赛（National Forensic League）的公共论坛赛制（Public Forum），全程用英语辩论，对选手的英语水平、公开演讲能力、逻辑推理能力、团队协作能力、心理抗压能力、快速应变能力有较高要求。

今年受疫情影响，本场比赛在线上举行，辩手们来自成都、哈尔滨、杭州、大连、兰州、武汉、南京等全国各地的城市。

三牛学子不仅要面对来自北京第二外国语学院成都附属中学、成都市实验外国语学校、南京贝赛斯国际学校等外省学校学生，还包括武汉本土学校的学生，与高手过招，才能成为高手。

据了解，参加本场比赛的六位同学均来自三牛辩论社。

成立于2019年的三牛辩论社，现拥有十六名成员，他们来自七年级至十一年级，由历史学科外教Jose David Tena、英语文学学科外教Sophie Bates、以及学术英语学科老师李杏负责指导。

这已是辩论社第三次带领同学们载誉而归了。仅NHSDLC竞赛，辩论社成员就曾获奖两次，除此之外，同学们还在NSDA全国中学生演讲与辩论联赛中有突出表现。

成功绝非一蹴而就，比赛结束后，我们邀请了社团指导老师Jose David Tena和Sophie Bates，和大家聊一聊他们是如何指导同学们备赛的，以及他们对参加比赛的一些建议。

Have all the students who took part in the debate contest had any experience in debate before?参与此次辩论赛的同学，之前都有过辩论经验吗？

Not all of the students had actual debating experience. However, in the debate club they all participated in mock debates. 并不是所有的学生都有实际的辩论经验。但是他们在辩论社都参加了模拟辩论。

After getting the subject of the debate, as the instructor of the debate club, in what ways do you guide the students in the competition? 拿到辩题后，作为辩论社团指导老师，您从哪些方面对同学们进行了比赛指导？

During club time, we read and discuss the research packets together. We also have games and activities that practice the debate procedures and essential debate skills. The students also do a lot of work and preparation on their own time. 社团时间，我们一起阅读和讨论研究资料，也通过游戏和活动来练习辩论流程和基本的辩论技巧，学生们也利用自己的时间做了大量的准备工作。

As far as you know, how much did the students prepare for this recent competition? What preparations have the students made for this online competition? 据您了解，学生们为此次比赛的准备和投入有多大？同学们为这次线上赛进行了哪些准备？

We began researching this debate topic at the end of September. Ideally one would desire more time to prepare for an online debate yet our main focus is not the final result as much as the debating experience. 我们从9月底开始研究辩题。通常，人们希望有更多时间为在线辩论做准备，但我们的主要关注点并不是比赛结果，而是辩论过程的体验。

Did anything interesting happen during the preparation period? 备赛期间有发生什么好玩的事吗？

During our last mock debate, a few days before the actual online debate, our students were slightly tired and nervous. In the middle of the debate a few mistakes led to giggles which quickly turned into a general class laughter. It was a wonderful release of stress. 在我们最后一次模拟辩论中，也就是真正在线辩论的前几天，我们的学生有点疲惫和紧张。在辩论进行到一半时，几个错误引起了一阵咯咯咯的笑声，很快就变成了全班的笑声，这真的是一次极好的压力释放。

Do you watch the video of the students' online games all the way? How do you evaluate the performance of the students participating in the competition? 您有全程观看同学们的线上比赛的视频吗？您如何评价参赛同学们的表现？

Both debate teachers were present during the debate as some of the teams debated from the school. We sat in the classrooms during the actual online debates and were able to take useful notes for future feedback. 实际在线辩论中，我们两位老师坐在教室，针对同学们的表现做一些有用的笔记，以备将来反馈。

What's the hardest thing about playing a debate contest? 您认为，打好一场辩论赛最难的是什么？

The most difficult part of the debating process is balancing the overall understanding of the topic with the detailed evidence needed to enrich one’s argument. Another obstacle to overcome is lack of confidence. 辩论过程中最困难的部分是，平衡对主题的总体理解和丰富论点所需的详细证据，另一个需要克服的障碍是缺乏自信心。

From your teaching experiences, how do you think our school does at exercising students’ critical thinking skills and English ability? 从你的教学经验出发，学校主要通过哪些教学手段和方法，锻炼同学们的批判思考能力和英语能力？

Debate club provides our students with a wonderful English speaking environment. All students that join our club improve their English comprehension skills. 辩论社为我们的学生提供了一个很棒的英语演讲环境，所有加入我们社团的学生都提高了他们的英语理解能力。

What are the next plans and goals of the debate club? 辩论社接下来的计划和目标是什么？

We want to continue to foster a debating culture at San New School. We hope that in the months to come more students will begin to realize the value of debating in regards to college preparation. 我们希望在三牛继续营造辩论文化，希望在接下来的几个月里，能够有更多的学生开始意识到辩论对于大学申请的价值。
